Don Mattingly Announcement
Thursday, November 6th, New York - Former Yankees legend Don Mattingly and Blue Jays 2025 MLB World Series bench coach recently informed Blue Jays management he will not be returning to the organization in 2026.
The former National League Manager of the Year recently expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Blue Jays President & CEO Mark Shapiro and General Manager Ross Atkins for the opportunity to join the organization, three (3) seasons ago as bench coach.
Don thoroughly enjoyed working alongside manager John Schneider for the past three years. In addition, he mentioned his Blue Jays journey winning the division and making to the 2025 World Series felt like one of the best teams he'd ever been around.
While he won't be back in Toronto, this is not retirement. He is unsure of his immediate baseball future but definitely wants to remain in the game he loves so much.
Mattingly is in town (NYC) to accept, on behalf of Mattingly Charities, the prestigious Rawlings “Heart of Gold Award”, at the Annual Rawlings Gold Gloves Award ceremony Friday night, November 7th.
He then returns home to Evansville where he and Lori Mattingly prepare for Mattingly Charities "A Night of Songs & Stories" featuring country music star Larry Fleet performing and special guest Scott Rolen.
